Search Engine Site Submission
Getting Discovered on the Web!
Search Engines are one of the best ways to become discovered on the web. Statistics say that 20 to 50 percent (and as much as 95%) of the traffic that a website receives is from
search engines. Getting listed in them can be a daunting task if you do not understand their language. Your site can get simply lost in the sea of homepages.
Search Engines (indexes), Directories & Spiders
If you are wondering if there is any difference between Search Engines and Directories, it is our duty to help you understand that there are. Search engines and directories
differ quite considerably in the way they collect website information, the number of websites they add to their databases and the relevance of their search returns.
In terms of size, search engines are generally the larger of the two. Directories tend to use major search engine databases to supplement the listings they provide. When a
website is submitted to a directory they are screened and cataloged by actual humans for quality and relevance of the websites topic that has been chosen by the customer
submitting the website.
Meta-Tag Optimization is a Must!
Meta-tag optimization plays an avid part in the process of increasing your chances of a higher listing in search engine indexes. So many webmasters sometimes do not realize the
importance of optimizing their meta-tags (Head Tags) to achieve an all-round successful marketing approach of their website by effectively enhancing the keywords and phrases used
in their Title Tag, Description Tag and Keyword Tag.
Rich Text Content is equally as Important!
As you may, or may not know we must let all our readers know that 'Rich Text Content' in your website's body text is a beneficial must, if you want to further enhance your
chances of increasing your website's position in a search engine's listing. Many search engines rely on the readable content of a website to determine the theme of the website
and rank it accordingly to the keywords which reside in the 'Body Text' of a website. If your website's text appears as a graphic file, or if your website is filled with
wonderful Flash animation graphics, you will drastically inhibit your chances for a higher placing in a search engine. Note: If a potential customer comes to your website, a
pretty website does not sell, a website with high content does.
Submit and resubmit web pages as needed.
Search engines are continually changing their relevancy algorithms and clean up their indexes of websites. This article explains why you need to resubmit your website.
Announcement sites such as "FFA" (Free For All) sites will post your site temporarily (days to weeks). If you wish to continually appear you need to submit regularly. Note: One
of the main advantages of being indexed in FFA sites is that the number of websites linking to you increases - as a result your position in some search engines will rise.
Directories and search engines are more permanent. They range from 3 - 12 months.
NOTE: If you find that this particular method is not very effective. You may have your company name in your title tag, we would suggest that you check
for your web pages by typing your company name in the search query.
Using Link Popularity to boost your listing!
Many of our customers ask us why they should submit their website to a number of FFA (Free-for-All) Links pages. Well for one reason is that it is very beneficial to boosting
your listing in a number of search engines through what is known as "Link Popularity". Link popularity does not stop with the only technique we have mentioned above.
You may be asking yourself. How do I develop quality links?
These are groups of webmasters who agree to participate in a program where other users link to them in return for a link to these users. These programs contain pages of links
that you will be asked to upload to your server. About once a week, or so, you will receive new pages with links of new users. The downside is that you are obligated to place a
link on you site so visitors can find these pages. Many of the programs will request a link from your home page. This link can be either text or graphic, but in either case, it
can make your site look less professional. Exchange programs will give you more permanent links than FFA pages, with higher quality. The number of links will be smaller, but it's
worth the effort.
