Real Producer G2

Real Producer G2 from Real Audio is a free tool that enables you to create Real Video and Real Audio files for your website. The tool can be downloaded from Real Audio site.

Configurations

Windows Systems
When you start the Real Producer G2, the recording wizard lets you choose which method of recording you wish to use. We do not have a Real Audio server so you will not be able to choose Live Broadcast as an option. It should look similiar to the below picture.

Click OK after selecting Record from File or Record from Media Device. For the purpose of these instructions, we will assume that you already have the file you want to put on the web on your hard disk... so we will select Record from File.

Now click on the Browse Button to find the file that you wish to convert and select it and then click Open.

After selecting the file (you should now see the path to that file in the File Name field) click next. You can put in information such as Title of the clip, author and copyright information. Click next after you fill that screen out.

Now be sure to select SINGLE-RATE as the file type you wish to create and click next.

Select the target audience that you would like to optimize for and click next. We recommend 28.8 since there are still a lot of people out there with these types of modems.

Select the audio format that you wish to use and click next.

You can now save the file into a directory you want if you click on Save As. The file that our example selected was called Boatsink.wav..... The Real Producer created a file called Boatsink.rm . You should try to keep the default name to make it easier for you. Click next after you have selected what you wish to save as.

You should see a summary of what you have created. If it is ok, click Finish.

The next screen will have your Real Producer's Recording Controls and Publishing features.

You can click Start in the lower left hand corner and then you can click Play to preview your file.

Creating the Web Page

Click on the Create Web Page button at the bottom of the screen. This will start the Web Page Wizard. Your file you have just created should be already in the Filename field. If it is not, browse to the .rm file that you created and saved earlier. Click on the Next button once you have located your file.

Select the playback method you wish to use and click Next. In this example, we will choose Embedded Player.

You can now choose Player Control Layout. You can also choose the Real Audio Player to "Auto Start" when someone goes to the web page that this wizard creates. We will select "Standard Player" and leave the "Auto Start" not checked for this example.

Next, put in the caption you would like for this clip and click Next.

Now you can select the filename you wish for the html page. Our example has named the html filename as Boatsink.html. You may also "Save As" if you wish to save the html file to another directory on your hard drive. Click Next.

The next page is the Wizard Results Page. In our example, the wizard has made a HTML page called Boatsink.html and a RAM/RPM metafile called Boatsink.rpm. You can preview your creation if you like by clicking on the "Preview" button. Click Finish.

Publishing the Web Page

You are now ready to publish the web page to our web server. Click on the "Publish Web Page" button at the bottom of the Real Producer screen.

Select the html file that you just created. In our example, we would select the Boatsink.html file.

Please select Generic - No Defaults on the dropdown menu for the publishing profile and click next.

You will then select "Stream Media clip from standard Web server" and click next.

The next screen is extremely important to get right. You should see something like this....

Make sure you put your domain name for the FTP server.

The name of the directory you wish to put the Real Audio/Real Video file will be up to you. You must have at least public_html/ in this field. If you create a subdirectory for your clip, then you need to append the subdirectory's name to the public_html/

Make sure you input your username and password and then click next.

The next screen you will need to input your domain name as www.yourdomainname.com for the web server where your web pages will be located.

The next field is where you would specify the directory where the web page will be located. If you created a subdirectory then you will need to put the name of it here... otherwise leave it blank. Click next.

Click Next again to start the upload.

Once finished uploading, you can immediately view your newly created page by clicking on the "View Now!" Click on Finish and you are done!

You can now close out the Real Producer G2 program.
