How to upload your site using WS_FTP LE on Cobalt

Here's what to do:

1. Open your FTP program.
2. Once open, configure your session properties like this:

* Be sure to replace username and domain with your actual username and domain *

When you log on, you will be taken to the /users/username directory. This will give you access to your personal space, but this is NOT where you upload your main site!

To upload to the main page, you must go to the / directory and double click on web. Then you can upload your main page as index.html as shown here:

And now that you have uploaded your file into /web you can now see it by going to your domain.com!

How to use the Fetch Program

MAC users Instructions for Fetch

1. Create your home page using some sort of home page editor or wizard. Make sure your first page is name index.html
2. View your home page locally using Netscape or some other browser by selecting Open file ... and choose the file you just saved in your local hard drive.
3. If satisfied, open up Fetch program. Put in www.domainname.com and use your username for the login name and your password for the password, then click OK or Connect.
4. There are two windows in Fetch, the right one is to show the current directories and drives available. The left one is to show the current directory of the user in our server.
5. You can now transfer your web-page to our server. Make sure that your default page is uploaded to the root directory (/web). (no need for any public_html folder)
