1) What is the procedure for registering a new domain name?
When an account is activated with a new domain name, we will automatically send your registration information to OpenSRS. OpenSRS typically completes the registration within 24 hours, and propagation typically takes about 72 hours. Register a new domain

2) Can I transfer domains already registered with another registrar (i.e. Network Solutions) to OpenSRS?
Yes. However, there are some conditions. We cannot do registrar transfers for domains that are On Hold or Past Due with the current registrar. To be on the safe side, you should start the registrar transfer process at least two weeks before the expiry of the domain.

The Admin Contact Email address for the domain must be valid. Before you attempt to transfer a domain, make sure that the Admin Contact Email for the domain to be transferred is valid. If the Admin Contact Email address listed in the current whois information is no longer valid, you must contact the original registrar to request that it be changed. We cannot assist you in transferring the domain until the Admin Contact Email actually works, so we can verify who is accepting the transfer.

The registrar transfer itself doesn't cost anything, but you will be charged $12.95 to register the domain for one year with OpenSRS. This year is added on top of whatever time is remaining on the domain from the other registrar. E.g., if you registered foo.org with Network Solutions, and it has 2 years remaining on the registration, then after a successful transfer it will expire in 3 years.

Please Note: When you process a registrar transfer, it will not show up as "Active" until the transfer has completed successfully. It usually takes 3-5 days but may take as long as 10 days.

To transfer your domain, click please be sure to include your domain name, your desired user name and password (for your new account), and send your request to domain@wt.net.

3) How do I make changes to my DNS record?
Before switching web hosting companies, please contact your original domain name registrar and tell them that you wish to make changes to your DNS record. For simplehost.net, the primary DNS is ns1.simplehost.net 216.119.168.31 and our secondary DNS is ns2.simplehost.net - 216.119.168.32. Failure to make these changes will result in "page cannot be displayed" to be viewed instead of your website.

4) Whom shall I contact regarding OpenSRS billing?
Questions regarding OpenSrs Invoicing and Payment Procedures should be referred to Natiowide Billing Dept. You can reach them by calling 1.888.628.4669 #2 or by email at billing@nationwide.net.

5) What is a NIC handle?
Every domain name has a NIC handle. You can use the same NIC handle as contacts for several domains. This way, if you make a change to the NIC handle (i.e., the e-mail address), all domains using that NIC handle will be updated as well.
