Reporting Spam

As a Nationwide Internet subscriber, you can report spam to our security team for analysis and further investigation. Often, our security team can use this information to identify the spammer and take action or report the spammer to their internet provider.

In order to report spam to our security team, the emails need to be submitted with the full headers intact. Below are directions on how to find the full headers on the message using different email clients.

Here is an example of a full header:

Once you have obtained the full header for the spam message, copy and paste it into a new email message and send the email to spam@nationwide.net. Our security team will investigate the matter further.

How to Obtain Full Headers

Outlook Express & Windows Mail (Vista)

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. Highlight the spam message in your message list by clicking on it once.
  3. Right-click on the message and select properties.
  4. Click on the Details tab.
  5. The full headers are in the box under "Internet headers for this message."
  6. Copy and paste all text in this box into a new email message.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Address the new email to spam@nationwide.net.
  9. Click Send.

Outlook

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Highlight the spam message in your message list by clicking on it once.
  3. Right-click on the message and select "Options" or "Message Options."
  4. The full headers are in the bottom box next to "Internet headers."
  5. Copy and paste all text in this box into a new email message.
  6. Click Close.
  7. Address the new email to spam@nationwide.net.
  8. Click Send.

Netscape Communicator, Mozilla & Mozilla Thunderbird

  1. Open Netscape Communicator.
  2. Highlight the spam message in your message list by clicking on it once.
  3. Click "View" from the top menu, select "Headers" and choose "All."
  4. Full header are now shown in the message.
  5. Copy and paste all text from the email into a new email message.
  6. Address the new email to spam@nationwide.net.
  7. Click Send.

Eudora

  1. Open Eudora.
  2. Double-click on the spam message in your message list.
  3. Click on the "blah blah blah" button on the toolbar at the top.
  4. Click Forward.
  5. Address the new email to spam@nationwide.net.
  6. Click Send.
