DSL FAQ's
If I have a router, can I use it?
More than likely, any existing router you already have will not work to connect to the DSL, even if it is a DSL Router or Modem. The DSL industry is still working to agree upon a
common, standard communications protocol for DSL equipment.
Once you have one of our DSL modems setup, you may be able to connect your own router to it. In doing so, it is possible to serve more computers within your own network.

Can I setup a Network with DSL?
It is possible with the right hardware to setup a network with DSL, although we do not support setup or troubleshooting for this. With all the different combinations of hardware
and software involved with networking, it is virtually impossible to support over the phone.

How many computers can I hook up?
While with the right equipment and setup you can connect as many computers as you like to your DSL connection, we support just one computer connected directly to your DSL modem.
If you would like to have a network on your DSL connection, it is your responsibility to ensure it is configured properly.

Who is providing these new DSL Services?
We has signed contracts with several National DSL Providers, including SBC, BellSouth, COVAD, New Edge Networks and Qwest. All have a proven track record and exciting plans for
continued excellent service to our customers.

Is the speed guaranteed?
Unlike almost any other form of affordable high speed access, some of the Business-class varieties of these new DSL services do offer a Service Level Agreement. Call us for
details on the Service Level Agreement for the DSL service that best fits your needs.

How will this connect to my computer?
The DSL connection usually connects to your computer via an Ethernet port or USB port.
Most PCs will require a Network Interface Card (NIC or Ethernet Card) to be installed. You are responsible for the purchase and installation of that card.
Most modern Macintosh computers already have an Ethernet port built right in, so Mac users probably won't need to install a separate NIC (if you are not sure, look behind your
Mac for an extra-large phone-style jack marked with <···> ).

When can I expect to get my router or bridge installed after ordering?
Your Router or Bridge will be installed on your line the same day your DSL is installed. A DSL install generally takes 1-4 weeks depending on the area and services provided.

I want a LAN in my house/business? Do you supply or sell any of that equipment?
We do not sell, supply nor install LAN equipment. There are a lot of options for routers and bridges available at most computer stores and they are becoming more affordable and
user friendly all the time.

Will the installer supply Cat-5 wiring or do I need to purchase that before they come?
The technician that visits your location will bring all the necessary wiring for a standard installation.
